Acts 25:13-27

ACTS STUDY DISCUSSION QUESTIONS

  1. What did you find interesting, encouraging, or challenging from our study of Acts 25:13-27?

  2. How does Herod Agrippa’s entrance into the scene heighten the threat against Paul? What did Herod Agrippa’s grandfather, Herod The Great, do when he heard about King Jesus (Matt 2:16-18)? What did his uncle, Herod Antipas, do when confronted by John The Baptist (Mk 6:16-29)? What did his father, Herod Agrippa I, do with James and desire to do to Peter (Acts 12:1-3)? Does any of that seem to shake or worry Paul? Why not?

  3. How does Acts 25:13-14 fulfill Jesus' promises in Acts 9:15 & 23:11? What does seeing such an explicit promise fulfillment do for your faith in Jesus? What do you think Jesus’ promises did for Paul during all those years of maltreatment and suffering?

  4. What does Jeremiah say in Lamentations 3:14-18? What does he do in Lamentations 3:21 that changes his attitude and leads him to declare something different (consider Psalm 77 and verses 10-12 for a similar declaration)? How does planting a flag in the promises of God help us in the middle of dark circumstances? What are some ways we can cling to, rehearse, and remember gospel truth individually and together?

  5. In Festus, Luke shows us the gospel of Jesus through irreligious eyes. Festus says he's at a loss, confused or perplexed. How do your unbelieving friends and family view your faith in Christ? What beliefs are they confused or perplexed by?

  6. Paul's complete confidence in the resurrection caught Festus' attention. Why is that so intriguing to Festus? What hope does the resurrection give you, and how is that hope evident in your life? How does your life give evidence of the resurrection of Jesus?

  7. What will you take away and apply to your life from studying Acts 25:13-27?
