ACTS STUDY DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
What did you find encouraging and helpful in our study of Acts 23:12-35?
Forty men make a vow not to eat or drink until death finds their enemy, but Jesus vowed not to eat or drink until his death on behalf of his enemies (Mk 14:25). What can we learn from that contrast between the way of the world and the way of Jesus?
Though forty men make a vow to kill Paul, and though chief priests and Jewish leaders conspire to participate in his death, what is the ultimate outcome, and what does it tell us about the forces of darkness and the sovereign power of God?
God thwarts the plans of these evil men and the forces of darkness through a young child. Where else in the Bible have you heard a similar storyline? What does this say about God’s power and wisdom (1 Cor 1:20-25)?
Four hundred and seventy soldiers, horsemen, and spearmen were ordered to protect Paul. He was given royal treatment and allowed to ride on a horse. What does all of this communicate about God’s protection and provision of his children?
How does God’s protection in Acts 23:12-35 and the promises of Romans 8:31, Psalm 118:6, and 1 John 4:4 comfort you?
What will you take away from studying God’s word in Acts 23:12-35? How does this text give you hope, encouragement, and comfort for your own trials and stressful circumstances?
