Acts 25:1-12
ACTS STUDY DISCUSSION QUESTIONS
What did you learn, and what will you apply from our study of Acts 25:1-12?
How much time has passed since Paul was first arrested and the Jews filed their formal complaint according to Acts 24:27? And yet, what do they still want to do according to Acts 25:1-3? They even go so far as to ask a public official to join their efforts by turning the other way while they kill him. What does this tell us about the opposition to Paul, Jesus, and the Christian faith?
Despite the plots and persistent attacks by the Jews, the bias of Festus, and all the cards stacked against Paul, he is still spared. Can anything stop God’s plans and purposes? What does that mean for his good plans and purposes in your life?
Has there ever been a day when God was unfaithful to his plans and purposes for your life and his glory? What does that mean for you in the right now, right here reality of your life?
Read and meditate on Acts 25:7. What might that moment have felt like to Paul? What does Luke reiterate in Acts 25:7? Day and night, Satan seeks to steal, kill, destroy, devour, and accuse us (cf. John 10:10, 1 Peter 5:8, Rev 12:10). How does it feel to know that not a single accusation of the Great Accuser will stick for those who are in Christ Jesus (cf. Rom 8:1, Rev 12:10)?
If our great enemy surrounds us daily to hurl insults and accusations at us, what do we need according to Col 3:15-16 and Hebrews 10:23-25? How can we encourage one another in the truth of the gospel? Who can you encourage this week with the truth of the gospel?
What do you make of Paul’s statement in Acts 25:11? What does Paul say in Philippians 1:21, and how does that give Paul hope and confidence? How might his perspective give you hope? How can we grow in the attitude Paul has?
What will you take away and apply to your life from studying Acts 25:1-12?
